I have been sewing for nearly all my life, learning from my mother who is a wonderful
seamstress! For years I was a primitive doll maker, but have always loved
lots of color both in fabrics as well as paper and fibers. Three years ago I started
playing more with paper and making collages and Altered Books and mixed media
art, always incorporating fabrics and fibers as well. In November 2002 I took
a 3 day workshop with Susan Shie here in Ohio and learned her unique hand quilting
style and I was hooked! I have also taken a class with Teesha Moore for
an art doll cloth journal, even though I knew the basic technique, I just loved
her style and her work! Since then I have made more quilt pieces, boxes, and
journals using unusual batiks, over dye wools , vintage fabrics, fibers, beads,
sequins, and anything else that can be sewn onto fabrics. I still use fabrics
, beads, and fibers in nearly all my AB work and collages etc. I hope to have my
next project be an all cloth journal with fabric/paper collages.
