Experience Level: Easy, suitable for all Create beautiful functional tumbled marble coasters or purely decorative 4” tiles using a photo transfer technique and a product called Lazertran. If you use 8” tiles you can create street address tiles that can be mounted to your home – you will be the envy of the neighborhood. This is a very simple process and very inexpensive. What you need: Tiles [which can be purchased at just about any home improvement store], Lazertran, PPA glue, a sponge brush and a squeegie. How to create these tiles: Copy images or words of choice onto Lazertran. Cut out the image as close as you can [doesn't have to be exact], put in a shallow dish of water - the image will come lose from the paper backing. Paint a thin layer of PPA glue over the top of each tile, pull your image out of the water, lay it on the tile and squeegie out all the bubbles so your image lays smooth on the tile. Wa-la, you have a decorated tumbled marble tile! |
This project takes about 2 hours, start to finish, which makes it a great project
to make as a thank you gift, something seasonal or a great project to do with
children. These tiles can be personalized using your own photos or theme of choice.
I've created four styles which are among my favorites: patriotic, wine labels, Paris and funky. 1. The patriot tiles are copies of red/white/blue greeting cards as the background and my favorite patriot rubber stamp sayings. 2. The wine labels speak for themselves. 3. The Paris tiles each have about 8 different images on each tile. I stamped my favorite rubber stamps onto a piece of paper and copied that onto the Lazertran; the background is Paris wrapping paper copied onto Lazertran. 4. For fun I made these funky tiles out of images I purchased from Linda and Opie O'Brien. Now get to work and as I always say, HAVE FUN! Norma Kooi 5.04 Back to newstuff |
