When DJ Pettitt gets down to play with her art, experimentation is her game, crossing over between collaging on canvas, paper and altered books, mixing in newly discovered techniques, layering vintage photos, textures, and colour, hand painting and sewing, all building up into a rich harmony of visual stimulation.
A big hands up to her for showcasing her work

Other than benefiting from a few great instructors at workshops along
the way, I'm a self taught artist with a passion to create that I have
had for as long as I can remember... I can't imagine life without art!
Ilove exploring the relationships of color, form, line and texture, and
to see what happens when I mix them all together and give them new
voice.

Originally, I created traditionally using several different mediums-
from colored pencil, oil paint, and pastels to porcelain painting and
wood carving. Then a few years ago, I found collage art, and a whole
new world opened up to me. Collage gives me the ability to visualize
feelings and emotions in a way that I could not do before.

During the past year, along with using vintage images and text in my
collage, I have begun incorporating my own sketches and photographs as
well. After purchasing a digital camera last Fall, I've become
increasingly excited about creating "Artography" (digitally altered
photos) for use in my work and blending my love of computer technology,
photography and mixed media.

For me, art is a continual learning and growing experience reflecting
the joy and inspiration that I receive from the blessings that the Lord
has given me...  and the desire to bring joy to others in the process.
